It was written. The tradition of the future: An impossible articulation
Keywords:
linear time – cyclic time – biblical tradition – Greek tradition – fate – Nobel Prize award speechAbstract
The present work attempts to explore how García Marquez’s works articulate Greek and biblical views of time, a synthesis that
may seem impossible at first glance since they bring together the mythical view of time as cyclic and the supposedly linear time that
announces an end of all times. It is this that makes "Cien Años de Soledad" an original synthesis of the Western world. Also, this work focuses on the relationship between the ending of the novel and the Nobel Prize award speech, which seems to hint at one - another - turn of the screw.
