Abstract

This article addresses Eduardo Galeano’s forgotten work of fiction through one of his best stories. Its structure is analyzed and it includes a study of its main characters: the narrator and his memory, Bolita’s monolog, Garúa, and the link between the drama of homelessness and the five million Argentine pesos that belonged to the famous malefactors who resisted until they died in
Montevideo’s Liberaij building in the sixties, concluding with an explanation of the story’s title.
