Abstract

In this article, an analytic approach to a fragment in "Cien años de soledad" by Gabriel García Márquez is attempted. The analysis will focus on the episode when insomnia plagues Macondo, affecting all the characters and provoking their loss of memory
(associated with an amnesic syndrome) and their linguistic registers. Some of these phenomena sometimes seem to have a direct
connection with real events. The analysis is therefore carried out from three complementary perspectives, where the literary,
linguistic and the neuropsychological aspects are connected. In this way, a more complex and detailed vision of the selected episode is made.
