Abstract

This essay is about the mixture of inner self – referential echoes, like silence or the topic of death, that fall upon the aesthetic creation and related to the living dead that make it up. It attempts to account for the combination of Comala and Pedro Páramo. For this, it refers to the process of dehumanization that young Pedro experiences after he succeeds his father, becoming the subhuman that submits Comala and makes it a land of horror. In the light of Paul Sartre’s ideas posed in his literary works, the existential restlessness of citizens is translated in the alienating expression of "nothingness".
