Abstract

The theme of humour has rarely been tackled in the work of Juan Rulfo. Sometimes with more subtlety, sometimes with more sharpness and sarcasm, Rulfo uses humor in order to question prevailing conformism in the 1950s, in Mexico, in the aftermath of the Revolution. In this article, we will focus precisely on "Anacleto Morones" and how mockery and irony play a political role in this story by saving reason from the chaos of madness as inflicted by the absurdity of others.
