Abstract

The article aims to understand the concepts of ideological palimpsest and juxtaposition of meanings, coined by Uruguayan playwright Santiago Sanguinetti, by applying them to the satirical drama El gato de Schrödinger (2018). The idea of palimpsest refers to Gérard Genette’s definition of transtextuality and to the multiple connections of one artistic work with others whereas the ideological adjective refers to the philosophical position of the author regarding the world. Likewise, the juxtaposition of meanings refers to the assembly of multiple perceptions and levels of interpretation found in Sanguinetti’s works.
