Abstract

William Shakespeare’s plays have had multiple studies and reviews
from various points of view, among which feminist criticism is included. It is
intended to analyze the male and female roles in some of his plays, particularly
in comedies, understanding that this dramatic subgenre is probably the least of
the author’s texts worked in the classrooms. The analysis will take into account
the interaction between the sexes, the forms of communication and the game
of identities.
For the approach of the theme will be considered the study of the
protagonists of the following plays and their relationship with the male
environment: “Twelfth Night: Or what you will”, “As you like it”, “Much ado
about nothing”, “The taming of the Shrew” and “The merchant of Venice”.
