Les enfants: a comparative analysis between the
short stories "La soga" and "La soga", of Silvina
Ocampo
Abstract
The present work presents a comparative analysis between two homonymous tales by the Argentine writer Silvina Ocampo. The main objective is
to make comments and broaden the discussion about the labels used to classify
certain literatures, especially children’s literature. In addition, the texts of Ocampo present an aesthetic change that begins with the fantastic narrative mode
and ends with the wonderful, preserving the subtlety and, at the same time,
breaking with the expectation of the reader, who is faced with an extremely
well executed technique. The theoretical reference used is basically composed
by Freud, Saint Augustine, Ariés and Rousseau, who discuss the theme of childhood. Narrative categories, form, and subliminal and explicit messages were
also contemplated for the purpose of not only exemplifying but also shedding
light on certain tacit and extremely important passages for the work.
