Abstract

This article approaches the drama Incendios from Lebanese author
Wajdi Mouawad, from a philosophical point of view. The starting point is that
in this current “positivness” society we find a “desnarrativisation” of the world
(Han, 2012: 46) causing life to be ephemeral, the importance of narration
for the construction of the identity and memory (recurring to author Walter
Benjamin) is analyzed. Likewise, it is posed that the consequences caused in the
individual by the “desnarrativisation” and the place granted to the otherness;
consequences that must be overcome by the characters of Incendios to get out
from themselves, listen to their mother´s voice and construct a past looking to
the future.
